Hey there, fellow travelers! Today, I’m super excited to share my experience exploring the beautiful Punta Cana, a place I’ve been lucky enough to call my second home for the past 2 years.

So, let me be your guide as I take you through the top 5 excursions and tours you absolutely can’t miss while visiting this tropical paradise.

Saona Island – A Slice of Paradise

My adventure began with a visit to Saona Island, the beautiful setting of “The Blue Lagoon” movie. Imagine clear turquoise waters, beaches with swaying palm trees, and starfish in the shallow areas.

I hopped on a catamaran and enjoyed some music, an open bar, and a full day in this dreamy paradise. Trust me, you’ll fall in love with Saona Island.

Cayo Levantado – The Bacardi Island

Next up was Cayo Levantado, known as Bacardi Island. It’s a small gem with lush greenery and pristine turquoise waters.

If you visit between December and March, you might even spot humpback whales. I recommend considering a private boat tour for a more intimate experience.

Don’t forget to try the freshest fish – it’s a must on this picture-perfect island.

Altos de Chavon – Step into History

Altos de Chavon sits by the Chavon River and is like stepping back into a 16th-century Mediterranean village. There’s a cultural center, an archaeological museum, and a Roman-style amphitheater.

It’s a must-visit for history and art lovers. The views over Rio Chavon are stunning, and the local food is a delightful bonus.

Colonial City of Santo Domingo – A Journey Through Time

Taking a break from the beach, I explored the historic Colonial City of Santo Domingo, the Caribbean’s oldest city.

The Zona Colonial, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, features cobblestone streets and buildings dating back to the 1500s.

Don’t miss the Alcázar de Colón palace and a stroll through El CONDE for a taste of the city’s rich history.

Catalina Island – A True Paradise

For those dreaming of paradise, Catalina Island is the place to be. No buildings disrupt the natural beauty here. This protected natural park reserve offers calm, crystal-clear waters perfect for snorkeling and diving.

You can encounter marine life, explore coral formations, and immerse yourself in the untouched beauty of this haven.

Stay tuned for the next part of my adventure, where I’ll share more about the remaining five incredible destinations in Punta Cana!

A Guide to the Best Beach Resort in Punta Cana

Hey friends! I want to tell you about my awesome time in Punta Cana and the best resorts I stayed at. Let’s dive in!

Whala Bavaro – A Budget-Friendly Gem

This place is tiny but cozy. There are two parts, one by the beach and one a little away. The beachfront pool on the fifth floor has a stunning view.

The beach is super clean. The food and drinks were okay for the price. Good for saving money but not my top choice.

TRS Cap Cana – A Calm and Fancy Spot

TRS Cap Cana is small and fancy. Great pools but not much nightlife. The food was okay, and the views were awesome. If you want a peaceful time, this could be perfect.

Melia Caribe Beach – Fun for Everyone

I went here with my mom, and it was special. The beach is beautiful, and the Splash Island Water Park is so much fun. The resort is big, so be ready to walk. The room was clean but a bit old. Overall, a good choice for families.

Riu Palace Punta Cana – Looks Amazing!

The architecture here is incredible! A bit bigger, but the pools and food are great. The beach right in front is not the best, but a short walk takes you to a beautiful one. Super entertaining and lively.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach – A Quiet Getaway

This one’s for grown-ups. Only one pool, and not much daytime fun. The room was clean but kind of old. Great for a calm time, especially if you can explore the sister resort’s amenities.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace – Tropical Paradise

This resort is like a dream. Pools, a beach, and so many restaurants. It’s big, so you might need a train. Our room was big and modern, one of my favorites.

Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar – Yummy Food!

Nestled in a quiet place, the beach might have some rocks. But the food is amazing. Great service and fun entertainment.

Live Aqua Punta Cana – Perfect for Lovebirds

This one’s for couples. The beach isn’t the best, but the pool area is cool. Not many amenities, but the food is so good. The coffee shop was my favorite.

Grand Bavaro Princess – Nature Lovers’ Paradise

Exceeded expectations! Stunning beaches, cool pools, and nature all around. Peacocks walking around! Lots of dining options. Luxury in nature.

Margaritaville Cap Cana – My Absolute Fave!

Newcomer but stole my heart! Two lobbies, four pools, and amazing food. The beach is like a dream. Not much entertainment, but it’s my top pick in Punta Cana.

So, there you have it! My take on the best resorts in Punta Cana. Whether you want to save money or live in luxury, Punta Cana has it all.
